North Lanarkshire has ranked 10th for bulky waste charges in Scotland.
As many local councils look to explore strategies to tackle the surge in waste crime, Glasgow waste management experts at BusinessWaste.co.uk analysed the charges across the UK.
North Lanarkshire had a minimum charge of £42.55, with Argyll and Bute charging the highest rate for bulky waste collections in Scotland with a minimum charge of £90.90.
Mark Hall, Glasgow waste management expert at BusinessWaste.co.uk, said: “It’s clear to see there is a real postcode lottery for bulky waste collections across the UK, with some councils providing a free service while the minimum charge from others nears £100.
“For some areas, neighbouring local authorities even provide a stark contrast.
“Council bulky waste collections provide a great option for residents who may struggle to transport items to their local Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC), and ensure streets are kept clean, and that neighbourhood quality is maintained.
“Therefore, the service must be kept at an accessible price point.”
