NNL set for 17th AGM in Owerri

Nigeria National League stakeholders will converge on Owerri, Imo State, on Friday, August 21, 2026, for the league’s 17th Annual General Meeting, with preparations for the 2026/27 season expected to dominate proceedings, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

All 36 participating clubs are expected to arrive in the state on Thursday, August 20, ahead of the meeting and depart on Saturday, August 22.

NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, confirmed that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had approved the state’s hosting of the meeting.

“We are delighted that the sports-loving Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has magnanimously approved NNL’s request to host our AGM. This is one of the most important events in our calendar,” Alanana said.

Key issues expected to dominate discussions include the roadmap for the new season, club licensing regulations and possible amendments to the league’s rules and regulations.

Top Nigeria Football Federation officials, led by president Ibrahim Gusau and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, are also expected to attend the meeting.

The venue is yet to be announced, with the NNL Secretariat expected to communicate the details to participating clubs in due course.

Alanana also commended Uzodimma for his support for football and sports development in Imo State.

The 16th NNL AGM was hosted by the Kaduna State Government at the 5th Chukker Resort in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State.
