A Nigerian national identified as Mr Chika Ibe has been allegedly tortured to death by members of the South African Police Service, SAPS.
The Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa, NICASA, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Friday.
The association alleged that the ugly development, occurred at Parksig Villas Complex, Belleville, Cape Town on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Chika Ibe, who hailed from Lokpaukwu, Abia State, reportedly died after being subjected to severe beating, torture, inhuman treatment, and alleged suffocation during a police operation.
“These allegations are deeply disturbing and, if confirmed, constitute a gross violation of human rights and the rule of law,” Rev. Frank Onyekwelu, President of NICASA, said.
Some viral video clips captured moments some Nigerians in South Africa took to the street to demand justice for the deceased.
