The Witness delves into the impact of a real-life murder, witnessed only by the victim’s two-year-old son.

Three-part true crime drama The Witness is coming to Netflix this week, revolving around the aftermath of the 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common.

As the series debuts alongside a one-off Netflix documentary special, The Murder of Rachel Nickell, here’s everything there is to know about The Witness.

The wait is almost over for The Witness with the drama set to premiere on Thursday, June 2, on Netflix.

All three episodes are going to be released on the same day so fans can binge-watch The Witness as soon as it’s out.

Starring as Andre Hanscombe, the partner of Rachel Nickell and father to their young son is actor Jordan Bolger.

ITV Believe Me fans may recall him from the recent true crime drama as Sarah’s ex-partner Connor.

He also famously played Isiah in Peaky Blinders, as well as Miles in The 100 and Malik in the film The Woman King.

Bolger is joined by Hollyoaks actor James Bradshaw as DCI Tony Nash, The Dig’s James Dryden as DC Paul Miller and Alan Partridge star Kevon Eldon as DCI Mick Wickerson who were all involved in the original 1992 murder investigation.

Andre’s mum June will be portrayed by actress Kerry Godliman, known for Derek, Save Me and After Life, as well as Peaky Blinders’ Neil Maskell as DI Keith Pedder and Netflix’s Run Away and Sweetpea star Jon Pointing as DC Nick Sparshatt.

Meanwhile, My Mad Fat Diary actress Claire Rushbrook is Dr Jean Harris-Hendriks and Happy Valley and Game of Thrones actor Mark Stanley is DS Ivan Agnew.

The teenage version of Alex Hanscombe, Rachel Nickell and Andre’s son, is portrayed by Max Fincham who has featured in Dark Money, The Alienist and The Tower.

The Witness is a three-part true crime drama about the real-life murder of Rachel Nickell who was stabbed to death on Wimbledon Common in 1992.

The only person to see the horrific events was Rachel’s two-year-old son Alex.

The Witness focuses less on the crime but the heartbreaking aftermath with Alex becoming a crucial part of the initial police investigation.

It also sees how Andre copes with becoming a single parent overnight and how he tries to protect his son from the ongoing media frenzy.

Both Andre and Alex have been involved in the making of The Witness and The Murder of Rachel Nickell documentary.

The Witness premieres on Thursday, June 4, on Netflix.
