Nasarawa Gov sacks six commissioners in cabinet reshuffle

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has relieved six commissioners in a minor cabinet reshuffle as part of efforts to reposition his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This came after the fifth State Executive Council meeting of 2026, held at the Government House in Lafia and presided over by the Governor.

The governor, while speaking to members of the council, refuted speculation that his administration was planning a total dissolution of the cabinet, noting that only a limited reshuffle and other strategic adjustments would be undertaken to strengthen governance and prepare the government for the next phase of its agenda.

He thanked members of the Executive Council for their commitment and contributions to the development of the state.

The Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Shuaibu Magaji, while briefing Government House correspondents after the meeting, said six commissioners had been relieved of their appointments to create room for fresh appointments.

Magaji said the affected ministries are the Ministry of Security and Sundry Matters; the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; the Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing; the Ministry of Science and Technology; the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism; and the Ministry of Lands and Survey.

He appreciated the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and service to the state, stressing that the Governor had acknowledged their contributions during their tenure.

The SSG further said that the names of the new commissioners would be announced in due course after the necessary processes had been concluded.
