Naira records N8.21 appreciation against dollar in first week of September

The naira appreciated by N8.21 against the United States dollar in the first week of September 2026 in the official foreign exchange market.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the naira stood at N1,321.22 per dollar at the close of trading on Friday, September 4, 2026, compared with N1,329.43 at the start of the month.

This means that in the first four trading days of September 2026, the naira gained N8.21 against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained flat at N1,400 per dollar during the period under review, according to multiple Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
