Mystery in New York as groups filmed emerging from Brooklyn sewer manholes

Crews investigate sewer hole after 7 people emerge from it
  • Seven individuals were captured on surveillance footage emerging from a manhole in Brooklyn‘s Gravesend neighbourhood around 2 am on Friday, before quickly departing in waiting vehicles.
  • The group, some appearing to wear specialist gear such as waders, gloves, and heavy-duty boots, removed a manhole cover and climbed out of the sewer system one by one.
  • This incident occurred approximately an hour after a similar group of eight people was observed entering and later exiting a sewer manhole in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, around 1 a.m.
  • The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently investigating both occurrences to ascertain if they are connected, though the reason for the individuals being underground remains unknown.
  • The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has warned that entering the sewer system is illegal and highly dangerous due to potential hazards like noxious gases and unstable conditions.
