Locals in Motherwell have been left baffled after belongings were found strewn across woodland.

The Motherwell District Wildlife Protection team were left concerned after coming across underwear, clothes, shoes and furniture scattered across an area of land.

In images posted to their social media on August 4, items can be seen hanging from tree branches, as if placed there deliberately.

It is understood that no camp is set up nearby, with locals now sharing their theories.

The items appear to be women’s clothes, with one high-vis jumper and bar stool also dumped nearby.

Few locals have questioned if it’s a new art installation, with others suggesting the items belong to a homeless person, or perhaps foxes nicked someone’s washing line.

Posting ten pictures online, the charity wrote: “What on earth is this about? Should I report it? It’s worse than last time , something depraved is going on here”.

The caption suggests this isn’t the first time the area has been used as a dumping ground.
