Mom buying World Cup tickets hit with massive extra charge

A New York mother, Elizabeth Saitta, was unexpectedly charged $8,100 after accidentally purchasing a parking pass on StubHub while buying FIFA World Cup tickets for her son.
Saitta had intended to buy two tickets for $772 for a Brazil vs. Morocco match at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, but mistakenly added the high-priced parking pass to her order, according to NBC New York’s report.
StubHub initially denied her refund request, but reversed its decision and processed a full refund after NBC New York contacted the company on her behalf.
The World Cup 2026 began Thursday in Mexico City, with the U.S. set to host over 70 matches, including the final at MetLife Stadium on July 19.
An Emerson College poll indicates 45 percent of U.S. voters are not interested in the tournament, and fans have expressed frustration over record-high ticket costs, with Donald Trump also commenting on the high prices.
