Mitch McConnell discharged from rehab facility to continue ‘intensive regimen’ at home

  • Senator Mitch McConnell has been released from a rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery at home.
  • He plans to maintain an intensive physical therapy regimen from home while engaging with staff and colleagues on Senate business.
  • “Earlier today, I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home,” he said in a statement. “Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I’ve received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff.”
  • The 84-year-old Kentucky Republican was hospitalized in June and has been out of Congress since, prompting alarm and widespread speculation over his health.
  • During his hospitalization, McConnell developed pneumonia and was treated with antibiotics.
