Manchester United are bracing for a frenetic summer transfer window with the market now open. Michael Carrick’s side are back playing Champions League football next season and will be eager to add depth and quality to their ranks as a result.

Expectations are high at Old Trafford after a third-place Premier League finish and with key cog Casemiro departing, a replacement or two will be needed. Ederson will be the first arrival through the door.

But a former striker has urged the club to join the race to sign one of World Cup 2026’s standout stars thus far, Ivory Coast and RB Leipzig phenom Yan Diomande.

The 19-year-old has wowed on the world stage and in the Bundesliga and Liverpool are thought to be frontrunners, but United have been encouraged to hijack this approach as Mirror Sport takes a look at the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.

United’s bitter rivals are reportedly willing to part with £86m for Diomande this summer, though his current employers are supposedly holding out for a sum that exceeds £100m.

Louis Saha, who used to lead the line for United, has urged his former club to get in on this deal and try to pull off a hijack from under Liverpool’s noses. He told Casinolyze.co.uk: “Man Utd should hijack Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande, definitely.

“This type of winger now dominates football. When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game, to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous, I love that. Those styles are amazing.

“I think Diomande had a great opening game, and it’s been a year with Leipzig where he’s done really well. I am pleased to see that kind of career because it was not easy starting in the US and now being a superstar. I think he can be a superstar like Lamine Yamal.”

Elsewhere, Marcus Rashford is the subject of another transfer twist this summer. The England star, who was on the scoresheet in the Three Lions’ opening World Cup win against Croatia, spent last season on loan with Barcelona.

Despite a £26m option to buy in the loan deal, it was not exercised and has since expired, leaving Rashford’s future now up in the air. A new loan deal in Catalonia has been mooted. However, German outlet Bild reports that Bayern Munich have now turned their attention to the 28-year-old.

Rashford’s representatives have reportedly been contacted by Bayern after the German side missed out on signing his international team-mate, Anthony Gordon, who has joined Barcelona. It is said, though, that wage concerns make the deal unlikely.
