Manchester United face a busy summer as the transfer window heats up. Michael Carrick’s side need new recruits as they prepare to return to the Champions League next season.
The club confirmed the departures of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia as part of their retained list on Wednesday. United have already looked to address the void left by Casemiro after striking a deal for midfielder Ederson.
Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, faces an uncertain future at United following his loan spell at Barcelona. The 28-year-old, who is part of England’s World Cup squad, enjoyed his time with the Catalan club and expressed his desire to remain at the Camp Nou.
The La Liga champions have an option to sign the United star permanently for £26million. However, Barcelona have reportedly decided against the move after agreeing to sign Rashford’s England team-mate Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

In terms of potential incomings, Carrick’s side have been linked with goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who is in talks over a new deal at Leeds United. Mirror Football rounds up some of the biggest stories surrounding Old Trafford.
Rashford has removed any mention of Barcelona from his Instagram bio following reports that the club will not trigger their £26m buy option. He registered 14 goals and assists apiece in 49 games for Hansi Flick’s side last term.
Spanish outlet Marca reports that Rashford will not be a Barcelona player next season after the club decided against the deal. It is added that the choice to target Gordon was proof that Barcelona’s interest in signing Rashford had declined, given that the pair both on the left flank.
Barcelona’s decision to favour Gordon over Rashford was reportedly influenced by the former Newcastle United star being three-and-a-half years younger, as well as impressing Flick with his ability to carry out defensive work. Rashford is set to return to United after the World Cup unless a transfer with another interested club can be agreed.

Leeds have confirmed the club are in talks over Karl Darlow’s future. The 35-year-old goalkeeper is nearing the end of his contract and has attracted interest from Old Trafford.
The Wales international has spent three years with the Yorkshire club and established himself as first-choice in the second half of the last campaign, making 22 appearances. However, Daniel Farke’s side are reportedly in the market for a new shot-stopper.
