Manchester United hope to cap off a turbulent season with a crucial away win at Brighton as focus shifts to the summer transfer window. The Red Devils welcomed the return of former club captain Michael Carrick who has steered them to third place in the Premier League.
The current interim boss is set to be rewarded for his recent efforts with a permanent managerial appointment. No official announcement has been made yet but reports suggest this has stalled due to the confirmation of his backroom staff.
Carrick will put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months. His attention will firmly be on the final fixture of the season at the Amex Stadium against Fabian Hürzeler’s side.
Plans will already be in place to secure deals for transfer targets this summer, while also allowing some current players to leave for pastures new. Here, Mirror Football has all the latest coming out of Old Trafford.

Frenkie de Jong believes Marcus Rashford has “earned the right” to become a permanent addition to Barcelona’s squad next season. The United forward impressed on loan to the Spanish giants this season, helping them win the La Liga title and the Supercopa.
Rashford made 28 goal contributions in 48 appearances for the league champions and is keen to continue working under Hansi Flick. Now, the thoughts of the Barcelona dressing room have come to light as vice-captain De Jong gives his stamp of approval to the transfer.

The Dutch midfielder told Spanish media outlet Sport: “Yes, he has earned the right to stay. In the minutes he’s played, he’s given us a lot: goals, assists, attacking runs. He’s a fast player who poses a real threat to opposing defences. I’d be delighted if he stays with us.
“I saw him arrive full of enthusiasm. He was very happy to be here, and from the first moment, it was clear he wanted to stay. He’s tried to adapt as best he can, and I’ve seen him doing well.”
United have identified Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Serie A star Ederson as their top two midfield targets this summer. Sky Sports News reports that the club are convinced they will land both players who have a combined valuation of £110million.

United are said to be fighting with Atletico Madrid over Ederson but have already landed an agreement with the player. A weekly salary of £100,000 is on the table but the club will now hash out a fee with Atalanta – who are demanding £40m.
Reports this week claim the Magpies will likely sell Tonali, but not for less than £70m. Casemiro has already announced his departure after the Brighton game and players like Manuel Ugarte are also said to be eyeing transfers elsewhere.
