Manchester United are having a busy start to the summer as Michael Carrick looks to put his stamp on the team ahead of his first full season in charge. The former midfielder was sworn in as permanent boss after guiding United to a third-place finish and a return to the Champions League.
His talks with the club will have addressed transfer support, and the early signs are very promising, with midfielder Ederson on the verge of sealing his move from Atalanta. Shipping out unwanted players will also be necessary, and progress has been made in that area, with Rasmus Hojlund turning his loan to Roma into a permanent transfer.
Meanwhile, the future of another loanee, Marcus Rashford, remains unresolved as Barcelona dally over whether to sign the England star permanently.
It promises to be a hectic summer as United build towards what they hope will be a title challenge next season. Mirror Football brings you a round-up of the latest Red Devils news…

Trabzonspor’s president says the club are in daily talks with Andre Onana about signing the United keeper permanently. The Cameroon international lost his place to Altay Bayindir at the start of the season before being sent out on loan to the Turkish Super Lig side.
After a nightmare few seasons at Old Trafford, Onana has enjoyed a positive campaign, helping Trabzonspor secure a respectable third-place finish behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahce and winning the Turkish Cup.
The club now want to sign him permanently, with president Ertugrul Dogan saying: “We speak with Onana every day. We won’t have any financial difficulties.”
United, who paid Inter Milan an initial £43.8m for Onana, will have to take a financial hit if they want to offload him this summer. Dogan said his club are prepared to look elsewhere if a deal cannot be agreed, adding: “We’ll make the necessary sacrifices. I don’t think we will experience any setbacks. But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality.”

Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton has signed a new one-year contract. The 40-year-old, who has three England caps, has made just three first-team appearances since returning to Old Trafford for a second spell in 2021.
Heaton came through United’s youth ranks but has played for a number of other clubs, including Burnley and Aston Villa, in his lengthy career. Heaton, who made his senior debut at Swindon while on loan from United in 2005, said: “It is a huge honour to continue to represent Manchester United.

“You can feel the determination and ambition of everyone throughout the club to keep pushing for success. I am really excited to play my role in driving us forward and helping the group to compete for the biggest honours.”
Heaton has provided back-up to Senne Lammens, who has been first choice since joining the club last summer, and Bayindir.
