Man on trial accused of ‘planning Palestine protest at Johnson wedding party’

Boris Johnson marries Carrie Symonds in secret wedding ceremony at Westminster Cathedral
  • Tim Speers, 41, is on trial at Southwark Crown Court accused of plotting to spray-paint Palestine on Lord Anthony Bamford’s Cotswolds estate.
  • The alleged protest was planned for the day before Boris Johnson hosted his wedding reception at the Daylesford Estate in July 2022.
  • Police stopped Speers and co-accused Sean Middlebrough at the property carrying cans of spray paint, superglue and a red boiler suit.
  • Jurors heard a voice note in which Speers said he agreed to perform the action for Palestine Action due to JCB’s alleged ties to Palestinian home demolitions.
  • Speers denies having an article with intent to destroy or damage property, claiming he abandoned the plot after noticing a large security presence.
