Manchester City’s FA Cup winner Antoine Semenyo has revealed that there will no celebrating, with the Premier League title still up for grabs. The former Bournemouth forward netted a stunning backheel at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to secure the trophy for Pep Guardiola’s men.
And while the squad enjoyed their moment on the pitch, Semenyo has confirmed that no one will be getting carried away, especially with the Premier League title race still alive.
City sit two points behind current leaders Arsenal with two games of the season remaining. Asked about his goal and the remainder of the campaign by BBC Sport, Semenyo said: “It has happened a couple of times in training – it happened perfectly today.
“Everything happened so fast to be honest. It came straight to me and I had to improvise myself as quickly as I can. I have never competed for trophies like this before, so everything is new to me. Hopefully, we can finish the job off.

“It is a good finish, I can’t lie. As a kid I have always wanted to be playing for the top teams – it took a long time to get there, but I am grateful.
“The first thing he [Pep Guardiola] said to me when I came was ‘don’t change your game’. He knows we control the game a lot, he still wants me to be me, still create a bit of chaos. I don’t think there will be much celebrations tonight it is getting ready for Tuesday.”
Semenyo’s comments come after a debate broke out between Micah Richards and Wayne Rooney at Wembley live on TV. The former City star claimed that the players should be allowed to celebrate, something that Rooney disagreed with.

He said: “They’ve got two games to win the Premier League. Wait until then.” City boss Pep Guardiola also gave an insight into his side’s plans.
“We would love to celebrate it when we come back to Manchester but I think there is a celebration next Monday, a parade with the women’s team who won the league,” he said.
“We will celebrate the two trophies and we’ll see. If we can extend hope until the last game at home against Aston Villa.”

He added in an interview with BBC Sport: “Not even one [celebration]. You know Bournemouth (away on Tuesday). That will be even tougher. Try to go there and get a results.”
