A man has been detained on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Merseyside.
North West Ambulance Service alerted officers at approximately 2.55am today (May 24) after a woman in her 30s was found dead at a property in Brook Cottage Close, St Helens.
A 63-year-old man was apprehended at the scene and taken to a police station for questioning.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to formally identify the deceased.
Police described the death as “unexpected” and said enquiries are being carried out.
