The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya,” over the alleged stabbing to death of a 25-year-old man, Moh’d Musa, in Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident reportedly occurred about 11pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following a fight between Abdullahi and Musa.
The Spokesman of the Command, SP Nafiu Habib, said in a statement issued on Sunday that trouble started when an altercation broke out between the two men, during which the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed Musa.
He said Musa was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for treatment but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.

Following the incident, police operatives from the ‘A’ Division, Township, moved to the scene and arrested the suspect.
The police also recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack as an exhibit.
According to the command, the victim’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody.
The case, it added, would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed detectives to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that justice is served.
He also urged residents of Bauchi to avoid violence and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
