Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has extended the curfew in 10 local government areas of the state by 24 hours.

The governor made the announcement in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Thursday evening through the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

DAILY POST gathered that the governor had earlier declared a curfew in 10 local government areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park.

The park has been a source of concern for residents of the state.

It was learnt that the students and teachers who were kidnapped recently are being held in the park.

Makinde on Thursday extended the curfew by 24 hours.

With this extension, the curfew, which was to last for 48 hours in the first instance, will now continue until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

DAILY POST gathered that the affected local government areas are: Oriire (Headquarters: Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (Headquarters: Igboho), Irepo (Headquarters: Kisi), Saki West (Headquarters: Saki), and Saki East (Headquarters: Ago-Amodu).

Others are: Atisbo (Headquarters: Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (Headquarters: Otu), Iseyin (Headquarters: Iseyin), Olorunsogo (Headquarters: Igbeti), and Atiba (Headquarters: Offa-Meta, Oyo).
