Commuters are facing rush hour chaos after train services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were disrupted by a signalling fault.
ScotRail have confirmed that a number of routes will be affected after the issue was discovered between Glasgow Queen Street Station and Charing Cross Station.
Network Rail are on site investigating the issue but disruption could be expected for a number of hours through the morning rush hour.
A number of low level services at Queen Street have been affected including trains running from Edinburgh to Milngavie and Helensburgh, from Balloch to Airdrie and Milngavie to Springburn.
ScotRail have said that services from Edinburgh to Milngavie will terminate and start back at Bathgate where possible, but that services through to Helensburgh will be delayed.
Services between Milngavie and Springburn will run with a delay but services from Balloch to Airdrie will only run as far as Anniesland.
Passengers travelling from Milngavie will be able to use the number 15 West Coast Motors bus service to travel into Glasgow as ticket acceptance is in place.
ScotRail announced on X shortly after 7am this morning: “Due to a signalling fault between Charing Cross and Queen St low level, services are subject to delay, alteration and cancellation. Network Rail are on site trying to rectify the fault.”
