A section of the M6 motorway is closed in Staffordshire following a “serious” crash involving two lorries, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

The motorway in Staffordshire has been shut southbound near Stoke between J15 Hanchurch Interchange (Stoke-on-Trent, Stone, Eccleshall A500) and J14 Creswell Interchange (Stafford (N) A34).

All emergency services, as well as National Highways Traffic Officers, have responded to the incident with drivers now warned they face delays up to an hour and a half.

National Highways says there are still major traffic problems on the M6.

They have said there are “currently delays of 1 hour against expected traffic”. The organisation’s online map shows traffic is not moving for about six miles.

National Highways is reporting delays of an hour and a half, up from an hour previously.

The event is expected to clear between 11pm and 11.15pm, according to National Highways. This has already been pushed back and is subject to change again.
