Motorists are facing major delays on the M4 due to a broken down lorry forcing two lanes to close.
Emergency services are at the scene near Newport with the incident on the eastbound carriageway between junction 24 (Coldra) and junction 23A (Magor Services).
Delays are continuing to increase, with congestion now reported back to junction 27 (Highcross).

Queues caused by a broken down lorry on the M4 eastbound between junction 24 (Coldra) and junction 23A (Magor) have now eased.
There is still traffic “in patches”, according to Inrix, but traffic is flowing much more freely. There are the usual delays for drivers around the Brynglas tunnels.

The broken down lorry has been recovered and all lanes are back open. There is still severe congestion in the area.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix says: “Long delays due to earlier broken down lorry on M4 Eastbound between J24 A449 (Coldra) and J23A A4810 (Magor Services). Congestion to J26 (Malpas Road). Lanes one and two (of three) were closed.”

According to the latest traffic update from AA, drivers heading eastbound on the M4 near Newport are facing 35-minute queues.
It says: “Severe delays of 35 minutes on M4 Eastbound between J27 B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross) and J23A A4810 (Magor Services). Average speed ten mph.”
