Love After Lockup star Amber Eggers died on Thursday, September 3, after being hospitalized. She was 41.

“There really isn’t a good way to say something like this. It doesn’t feel real, and I don’t think any words can make it feel real. Amber Eggers has lost her fight today and passed away,” read a post by Amber’s loved ones shared via Instagram. “Amber was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday Sept 1st with liver failure.”

The post continued, “The doctors did everything they could, but in the end, her body just couldn’t keep fighting. And if you knew Amber, you know she is a fighter.”

Prior to her hospitalization, Amber had been treated for pneumonia and sepsis last year.

“She had already survived so much. In the spring of 2025, pneumonia turned into sepsis and multiple organ failure, and she ended up on life support,” the message read. “She came back from that. She got to go home.”

The post revealed that Amber recently “suffered a mini-stroke and was home recovering” before experiencing liver issues.

“She has kept fighting through all of it, but this time her body lost the fight,” the post shared. “She will be missed more than we can probably put into words. Love After Lockup viewers and cast alike love Amber very much. We laughed with her, worried about her, and cheered her on through everything she faced. Thank you for being you, Amber. You are going to be missed. ❤️.”

Amber’s mother Monica Eggers also confirmed to TMZ that the reality star died on Thursday night in the hospital. Her cause of death was acute liver failure.

Amber rose to fame after appearing on Love After Lockup season 2, which aired in 2019. The show chronicled her relationship with then-boyfriend Vincent Gonzalez, whom she met while she was behind bars. Amber served four years in prison for drug trafficking.

Vincent proposed to Amber while she was in prison. However, the pair called off their engagement and ended their relationship shortly after her release.

Amber also had a close bond with her former cellmate Michelle “Puppy” Deaton. The pair appeared on the spinoff Life After Lockup. Amber and Michelle explored a romantic connection at one point, but they opted to remain friends instead.

“Whenever I didn’t love myself, Amber was there to love me,” Michelle previously said of her and Amber’s relationship on the show. “I honestly don’t think I would have made it without Amber.”
