We know what you were thinking… because we were thinking it too.
That first World Cup game against Haiti looked like a typical Scotland banana-skin.
As long-suffering fans, we have suffered so many times dropping points to so-called inferior teams.
Names such as Iran, Peru and Costa Rica are burned into our collective consciousness.
But clearly this Scotland team is made of sterner stuff.
And despite some backs-to-the-wall defending against a tough opponent, we secured our first win at a World Cup final since 1990.
It might not be our greatest win in a major tournament. But it might well be the most important if we can use it as a springboard to finally reach the promised land of the knock-out stages.
Andy Robertson and his teammates deserve nothing but praise for how they handled the game.
From front to back, our boys put their bodies on the line for us – and for once we managed to get the result we needed.
Now, we need to go again against Morocco and Brazil… two of the best teams on the planet right now.
Those will be different games, with Scotland as the underdog. And as we all know, that’s when we tend to pull out our greatest performances.
But for today at least, let us savour the pure joy of winning a World Cup match after a wait that was way too long.
Steve Clarke and the lads did their bit – but there’s no doubt the thousands of Scots in the stands also came out winners.
The Tartan Army has arrived in Boston like a friendly invasion force. And the locals are loving them for it.
Social media is full of Boston folk praising the Scotland fans for their good humour, hard partying and non-stop backing for their country.
The belting out of Loch Lomond and Flower of Scotland from the stands at the Boston Stadium raised goosebumps among those watching in pubs and living rooms back home.
Internationally, many are calling that the best moment of the World Cup so far.
During the game, the Tartan Army was electric. Roaring every tackle they lifted the players when we looked like we might be fading.
After the final whistle the fans were class personified.
No trouble, just hugs for Haitian fans, selfies with locals, and songs ringing into the Boston night. The Tartan Army reminded the world why they’re the greatest supporters on Earth.
And they’re certainly making up for lost time after a 28-year absence.
We’re back in the big time – and reminding the world what they’ve been missing for all those years.
