Residents have reported hearing a shooting in a Leicestershire village with “gunshots fired into a car”.
The incident took place in Brascote Lane in Newbold Verdon where locals are understood to have heard three gunshots at 10.29pm on Tuesday evening.
One man claims that two shots were allegedly fired into a car and one through the front door of a property. He said the incident is causing “a lot of alarm” within the community but that there are “no injuries as far as I’m aware”.

A man has said that it is the “first time” something like this has happened in Newbold Verdon and it has left him feeling “a bit nervous”.
He said: “It does come as a shock – I’ve lived here for several years. This is the first time something like this has happened in our village.”

This incident has resulted in a road closure as a police cordon has been put in place.
Leicestershire Police are at the scene in Newbold Verdon’s Brascote Lane.
The road is currently closed to motorists and pedestrians while residents are being escorted through the cordon, reports LeicestershireLive.
