The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, on Tuesday disclosed how the body of the late former President Musa Yar’Adua was returned to Nigeria.

Amadi claimed that Yar’adua’s body was smuggled back into Nigeria in the middle of the night from Saudi Arabia.

He made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television while speaking on claims that the late former Head of State, Sani Abacha died during sexual intercourse with a lady.

Yar’Adua is a Nigerian politician who served as the president of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in May 2010.

He won the Nigerian presidential election held on 21 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007.

He had previously served as the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007 and was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In 2009, Yar’Adua left for Saudi Arabia to receive treatment for pericarditis, but reports claimed he returned back to the country on February 24, 2010 and died on May 5 at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

There are other versions of the report that alleged he died in Saudi Arabia and was brought back into the country for burial.

However, Amadi said: “These maps to a larger contest in this country that we have problem with history, we have problem with investigating facts, so if the president dies in office it should be known.

“I was active in office when Yar’Adua died and issues around his health condition were such a taboo. Nobody spoke clearly as to what were Yar’adua’s issues.

“Then I was the Special Adviser and Ojo Maduekwe and a couple of others had to fly to Saudi Arabia to inquire about what was going on with our president who was trapped there. The whole thing was shrouded in secrecy.

“We never knew until late midnight when Yar’Adua’s corpse was smuggled in and Jonathan became president.”
