Team Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel clinched gold in the 400m hurdles final at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games on Friday night.

Nathaniel stormed to a resounding victory in 48.47s, beating England’s Jake Minshull, who ran 48.99s for silver, while Jamaica’s Assinie Wilson came third in 49.22s.

The national record holder makes history by becoming the first Nigerian to win gold in 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games.

It was Team Nigeria’s ninth gold medal at Glasgow 2026.

Meanwhile, Udodi Onwuzurike won silver in the men’s 200m final.

Onwuzurike powered to a season’s best of 20.09s to fiinish second behind South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile who took the gold in 19.96s.
