Emotional Katie Price has admitted meeting Peter Andre in the I’m A Celebrity jungle was the “best time in her life”. The former glamour model and celebrity, 48, looks back over her 30 years in the spotlight for a new Sky TV documentary series.

And at one point director Paddy Wivell hands her an iPad so she can watch herself meeting singer Andre in the Aussie camp from 2004 and how they got to know each other and began flirting.

Watching along, she says: “If I like someone like I liked him, I go all shy. I can’t look at them, and I go all like giddy. It’s pathetic, but that’s what I was like. You could see we were into each other and it is so cute to look at.”

Her brother Daniel who watched I’m A Celebrity from home recalls: “I know when Kate is knee deep, because she just has this glaze across her eyes. It’s like a puppy in a shop window waiting to be picked up. A never-ending glare into space because she’s so mesmerized and smitten. And she had that with Pete.”

Katie then says: “By the end of it I was smitten with him. Meeting Pete and being with Pete were the best times of my life, without a doubt.” She adds: “I had my prince, I knew I would be with him forever.”

After leaving the jungle the pair did initially have a perfect romance. They got together and married in 2005 going on to have children Junior and Princess. They also starred in their own reality show together on ITV.

But eventually cracks started to show and the pair split in 2009 leading to a long term feud and war of words. Katie described things as “spiralling out of control”.

Perhaps surprisingly, on the documentary Katie’s mum is shown having some reservations about Pete and the romance even as it began.

She was out in Australia waiting to greet Katie when she left the jungle, And looking back she said: “I knew when she’d come out, she’d be all dolally over him. ‘I want to be with him all the time. I want to marry him. Oh, Pete, Pete, Pete, Pete’.

“Yeah, she was just totally besotted, and so I knew it was going to be a bit of a long ride. No, I used to think ‘oh my god’.” Katie adds: “My mum was suspicious from the start.”

The comments all come from the second episode of the documentary, with more details including how they split, expected to be explained in the third and fourth episodes which have not been made available to media for previews yet.

But the series is expected to drop in full on July 8 so fans can binge watch all four episodes at the same time on Sky. Katie launched the series at the Sheffield Documentary festival last month. She claimed the TV series was the start of a new beginning for her.

At the time she said: “I am so proud, you know. I’ve got beautiful kids. I’ve still got an amazing family. There’s not that many friends left for me, because I’ve learned that some of the friends are people I’ve needed to get rid of.

“But I am definitely the best version I’ve ever been of myself. It’s like I’ve been in a washing machine and come out the other side with the experience and the knowledge, and I am at peace with myself.

“I feel like I’m starting my career again, and this is the start of my new career.”

Despite being currently being married to Lee Andrews, she also told the audience she might marry again in the future. She added: “What am I going to be like in 20 years? I should certainly look different, my face will be up here. How many more marriages? I don’t know.”

* Katie Price : Nothing to Hide, a four-part Sky Original series, will be available on Sky and streaming service NOW on 8 July.
