Kathy Hilton, a reality TV star, has withdrawn from her role as the Grand Marshal Icon for the 2026 WeHo Pride Parade following public backlash.
The controversy arose due to Hilton’s long-term associations with Donald Trump and his MAGA campaign, alongside past allegations of using a homophobic slur, which she denied.
Officials from the City of West Hollywood and WeHo Pride announced Hilton’s decision, stating that the 2026 parade would not designate a Grand Marshal Icon honoree.
Indigenous Pride LA had previously pulled out of the parade in protest of Hilton’s selection, arguing it did not align with the values of the LGBTQ+ community.
Hilton expressed her continued support for LGBTQ+ causes and the WeHo Pride event, while the decision to remove her drew mixed reactions from the public, with some criticizing the initial choice and others praising the outcome.
