White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced her daughter, Viviana, or “Vivi,” was born on May 1.
Vivi is 28-year-old Leavitt’s second child with her husband, Nicolas Riccio, 60; their son Niko will turn two in July.
Leavitt has been on maternity leave but briefly returned to the podium on April 24 following a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
During her last briefing before maternity leave, Leavitt attributed blame to Democrats and the American press for an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other top officials are filling in for Leavitt during her maternity leave.
