Cape Fear fans were shocked to see one of the original cast members make a surprise appearance.
Only recently, Cape Fear fans were thrilled to hear a TV adaptation of the classic psychological thriller was being made and the miniseries started airing on Apple TV on June 5.
Based on the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, the series also draws inspiration from the film adaptations in 1962 and 1991.
The Apple TV adaptation follows Max Cady (played by Javier Bardem), a vicious ex-convict who is released from prison and vows to take revenge on the couple who represented him 17 years earlier in court.
Using his knowledge of the law to evade punishment, he has a mission to torment the couple beyond belief.
Juliette Lewis played Danielle Bowden in the 1991 Robert De Niro-helmed feature adaptation, and she had a surprise cameo in the new series.

In the latest episode, titled Phantom Sensations, Lewis played a character from Max’s past.
She initially appeared in a hoodie and face mask, stalking the ex-convict until he arrived home to discover she had broken in and left an eerie video message.
The message sent him into a violent rage as when he played it, the image slowly zoomed out to reveal her true identity, as she said: “Hey Max, I heard you got out.”
She then hauntingly sang the refrain “what do they know about love? What do they know about love, my dear”.

Fans are yet to find out what her history with Max entails and what her true intentions are now.
Lewis was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar at only 18 years old for her previous role in the 90s film.
An important scene from the film took place in Danielle’s school auditorium, where Max, who was pretending to be a drama teacher, managed to worm his way into her heart.

While Danielle was manipulated by him, she developed a fascination with him, becoming both intrigued by and afraid.
The new Apple TV series hasn’t provided much detail about who her new character is, except that she knows Max from the past.
