Jeremy Clarkson admitted “I’m literally useless” and apologised to a contestant on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? after a “nightmare” question.
The ITV quiz show returned on Sunday (June 7) with host Jeremy on hand to ask the questions as six new players discovered if they have the 15 correct answers they need to win the top prize and head home as a millionaire.
Romell Miller was the first hopeful in the hot seat and the student ended up walking away from the studio with £1,00 in his pocket after stumbling on a history question. Next up was data analyst Natalie Waldegrave who revealed she wanted to use her winnings to help get on the property ladder.
She sailed through the first eight questions and until she had to use her first lifeline on a question about metal. Natalie decided to “ask the audience” and they got it right meaning she could continue on her game.

Natalie later used her 50/50 lifeline but it was the £64,000 question which left her stumped. She asked Jeremy to set her safety net but she needed to answer a question about lakes to secure it.
The presenter asked: “Which of these popular tourists lakes is the largest by area?” with the potential answers being Lake Windermere, Lake Garda, Lake Tahoe and Lake Titicaca.
Natalie had previously admitted in the programme that geography wasn’t her “strongest point” and proceeded to use her “Ask The Host” lifeline.
Jeremy later told Natalie that he was “useless” and didn’t end up giving her a definitive answer and said that he “could only apologise for the question” admitting that he didn’t think “anyone in the room or the world” could answer it.

Still not confident to answer the “nightmare” question, Natalie decided to use her fourth and final lifeline and phoned her brother Daniel, who also didn’t know the answer.
After serious deliberation, Natalie decided to take home the £32,000 in her pot but before she could leave, Jeremy asked which answer she’d go for.
Natalie guessed: “Lake Titicaca” and Jeremy informed the contestant that if she played on with that answer she’d be moving on to the next stage of the quiz show and could have set her safety net at £64,000. However, Natalie was still happy to be leaving with £32,000 to put towards her dream home.
It comes after contestant Andrew Fanko recently missed out on the chance to take the jackpot on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. He made it to the million pound question but decided against answering it as he couldn’t be certain and if he had gone with the ITV audience he would have been wrong.

It still meant he walked away with half a million pounds and played one of the best games in the show’s history. Andrew sailed through the ITV show until hesitating on question 12 for £125,000 about which cell type does not have a nucleus.
He phoned his friend Jonathan who was 60 percent sure it is bacteria, and after using his 50-50 went with this correct answer. The player stumbled again on a question 14 for £500,000 about which character is killed in Murder on the Orient Express. He tried to get help from host Jeremy but when that failed, correctly guessed Sam Ratchett.
Andrew’s final question for £1 million was to name which one out of the four people named was an EGOT winner, meaning having scooped four different arts prizes including an Emmy and an Oscar.

He didn’t know the answer and asked the audience but the majority of them thought it was Bette Midler. After taking the £500,000 and not answering, Andrew was told the correct answer was Andrew Lloyd Webber.
