Jennifer Lopez has graced the silver screen on more than once occasion, so you’d assume she knew what she was talking about when it came to films. And so it comes as no surprise that the singer and actress, 56, had a lot to say when it came to Oscar winners.

According to reports, the mum of twins, who she shares with Latin music star Marc Anthony, was quite vocal when asked her thoughts about the Oscar winning film Nomadland in a recent interview.

While on Films to Be Buried With, the podcast host Brett Goldstein, who is also her co-star in her latest movie Office Romance, asked her about her least favourite film.

In response, she said: “You can tell from my taste in movies about this, but Nomadland.”

Recognising that her choice of least favourite film may be an unpopular one, she went on to add that she found it a “beautiful film” but it was the “worst type of film ” for her personal taste.

And her reason was the fact that she found it a little slow: “It’s not why I go to the movies. I like musicals. I like romantic comedies. I like thrillers, you know? And it is a slow-moving thing about grief, and there’s no escapism to it.

“And I do like some movies like that. Some movies like that would be a bit… But that one, I just didn’t.”

Keen to reiterate that it was simply her personal choice she went on to say: “It’s just a taste thing. I know we need movies about grief – I understand; I just don’t want to watch ‘em – the same way I don’t want to watch horror films. It’s just not for me.”

Nomadland is a road trip film which follows the life journey of a widow who decides to completely pack up her life in Nevada, America, and travel around the country in her van.

And while Jennifer found the film somewhat depressing, it seems she appreciated Frances McDormand’s performance as the leading actress, for which she was nominated for Actress In A Leading Role.

During the podcast she said: “She’s amazing – we all know this. There’s no surprise there. She deserves all the Oscars.”
