  • A fundraiser set up to support the family of Professor Jason Arday has closed after raising more than £224,000 following his death in south London.
  • The 41-year-old academic had recently resigned from the University of Cambridge following press scrutiny over plagiarism allegations.
  • Prof Arday’s family said they were deeply moved by the extraordinary support, which reflected his impact on advancing education, neurodiversity and equality.
  • More than 30,000 people attended a vigil in Trafalgar Square to honour Prof Arday, where public figures strongly condemned the media campaign against him.
  • His memoir will be published as planned this week, while the academic who made the original plagiarism accusations has been suspended by Ghent University.
