The Scottish Maritime Museum on Irvine Harbourside is bringing back the ever-popular Glass Workshops with a fresh programme of Summer sessions.
Designed to suit everyone, from absolute beginners keen to try a captivating new craft to seasoned glass artists looking for fresh inspiration, the Glass Workshops offer everyone the chance to experience the excitement of shaping molten glass using a live flame and to take their creations home.
The sessions run 1pm to 3pm on Wednesdays and 10am to 12noon on Saturdays between July 1 and August 29.
The Summer Glass Workshops, which take place against the stunning setting of the vast, glass roofed Linthouse, have once again been developed in collaboration with Robert McLeod, a Fellow of The British Society of Scientific Glassblowers.
As well as offering his expert guidance during the sessions, Robert will share the story of the endangered craft of flameworking – also known as scientific glassblowing.
Eva Bukowska, exhibitions and events officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, says: “We’re delighted to bring back our hugely popular glass sessions led by our friendly and highly skilled glassblowing expert Robert.
“Never worked with glass before? No problem! Robert will help participants of all experience levels every step of the way in a safe and welcoming environment.
“Flameworking is mesmerising to watch and even more magical to experience first-hand! It’s the perfect creative and inspiring experience to enjoy or gift to friends and family this Summer!
“Tickets sell quickly so we encourage people to book early!”
Workshops are priced £60 per person. Places can be booked on Eventbrite.
All sessions are limited to two participants to ensure safety and the best experience.
