Iran will ‘pay the price’ if Tehran doesn’t make deal with Trump, vows Rubio

US carries out 12th straight night of strikes as Iran-backed Houthi rebels bomb two Saudi oil tankers
  • US secretary of state Marco Rubio claimed Iran is “begging for a deal” amidst escalating Middle East tensions, warning that Tehran will face intensifying US strikes “every night until they come to their senses.”
  • Rubio, speaking at the ASEAN conference in Manila, asserted that Iran is not ready to make a deal and will “pay the price,” noting their tendency to break or alter agreements.
  • The US military confirmed it had carried out its twelfth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, including the first deployment of B-1 long-range bombers in several weeks.
  • This military action followed a warning from Iran’s foreign minister of an “eye for an eye” response should Donald Trump proceed with threats to bomb Iranian infrastructure in retaliation for attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Further escalating regional conflict, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels bombed two Saudi oil tankers off the coast of Saudi Arabia, indicating a potential disruption to global oil supply.
