Latest incident comes after two flight cancellations last week involving airport affecting around 200 people.

First a KLM evening service from the Dutch capital to the Highland’s main airport, leaving at 9.50pm and arriving at Inverness Airport at 10.30pm failed to fly, on June 10.

The knock-on effect was that the morning’s return journey from Inverness to Amsterdam, leaving at 6.25am also failed to operate.

A spokeswoman for KLM said the issue arose because of “a technical problem”.
