Need to know
- Former The One Show presenter Matt Baker is returning to the BBC with his first solo series ‘Matt Baker: Life With Dogs’ for BBC2 daytime. The series, produced by his own company Big Circus Media, will explore the diverse roles dogs play in human lives – from working farm dogs to therapy dogs and assistance dogs for those with disabilities.
- Matt told The Mirror: “Dogs have been a lifelong passion of mine and I’m so excited to be making this series about the bond between humans and dogs. The show comes after the 48-year-old recently lost his beloved border collie Bob, leaving him heartbroken. He described Bob as “the ultimate companion through some of the greatest chapters of my life”.
- The series will examine how dogs can be trained for medical detection, warning owners of oncoming seizures, as well as their roles in therapy and police work.
- Matt now splits his time between his Hertfordshire smallholding and his parents’ Durham farm, where he regularly trains dogs. The family also has a dachshund called Ivy. The series is currently being filmed and is expected to launch later this year.
