Igboho resists attempt by police to arrest Tani Olohun in Oyo

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Tuesday resisted attempts by the police to arrest an advocate of Isese, the indigenous Yoruba religion, Abdulazeez Adegbola, also known as Tani Olohun.

Footages shared on Tani Olohun’s Facebook page showed a confrontation between residents and the police officers who came to arrest him.

One of the videos showed an officer pinning Olohun to the ground as residents gathered at the scene.

In the course of the attempted arrest, a resident alleged that the vehicle used by the officers had no number plate.

Olohun’s family members contacted Igboho as the situation reportedly escalated. Igboho thereafter arrived at the scene with some supporters.

Igboho, in another video, was seen communicating with an alleged senior official over the phone while being surrounded by residents and supporters.

According to him, four officers were at the scene, warning that the situation could lead to a confrontation.

The Yoruba Nation activist thereafter handed the phone to one of the officers at the official’s request.

When contacted, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident but declined to provide details.

“I don’t have a comment. A press release is coming soon,” the police spokesman said.
