I don’t want BBN romance to define me — Evicted housemate, Gerard

Twenty-three-year-old Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Gerard Adebija, has revealed that although he had a relationship with fellow housemate, Kamsy, he does not want to be defined by a reality TV romance.
Gerard, who spoke during a virtual post-eviction interview attended by Sunday Scoop, described Kamsy as a great person but said that, although he enjoyed their relationship, he felt the romance was overshadowing his other talents.
According to him, the speed at which the relationship developed was partly influenced by the fact that they were in the Big Brother house, where housemates spent considerable time together.
He said, “I didn’t want to just be recognised for being part of a ship. I wanted to be recognised for other things as well, and I didn’t feel like I had done that yet. I think I would have been slower from the very beginning. I think I would have been better off being friends for a while before doing all of that.”
“As much as it was a great story and plotline, it was not exactly what I came into the house to do, and that’s what ultimately ended it.
“The house was partly responsible for the speed at which we got together. But on her own, she’s a pretty great person, and I think that contributed to how I feel about her.”
However, Gerard said there was no bad blood between him and Kamsy after leaving the house, noting that they had spoken and were now on good terms.
He added, “I already touched base with her. We’re on good terms, regardless of everything that’s going on on the Internet. We, as people, are good. The house was the house; we are back in the real world now.”
On whether they would continue their relationship outside the house, he said, “It’s up in the air. It’s 50/50. I don’t know. She doesn’t know. You know, you guys will find out if anything. But right now, we’re just friends.”
