Home belonging to father of teen who died in A66 crash was rammed before fatal incident

  • Seventeen people have been arrested following a fatal collision in Middlesbrough linked to serious organised crime that killed five young men and two police officers.
  • PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough died when their police vehicle was hit by a VW Passat travelling the wrong way on the A66 dual carriageway.
  • Reports indicate that the home of 17-year-old crash victim Cole Worthy’s father was rammed by a car shortly before the teenager and four others set out in the Passat.
  • Police had pursued the Passat for nearly seven minutes due to linked criminal activity, abandoning the chase ten seconds before the crash when it turned onto the dual carriageway.
  • Two men have been charged with firearm and drug offences in connection with the wider investigation, while over £750,000 has been raised for the fallen officers’ families.
