Highlander star Christopher Lambert has pulled out of a fan convention early after undergoing a sudden medical emergency at the event.
The French actor, 69, was rushed to the hospital Saturday after he reportedly collapsed while signing autographs for fans at Steel City Con, according to TMZ. His representative told the outlet he fell ill because blood sugar was low after not eating much that day.
Steel City Con, which is Pennsylvania’s largest annual comic-con, shared an update that night saying that Lambert had to leave due to a “personal issue.” They assured fans that he would return Sunday for autographs and a photo-op, but would miss his scheduled panel appearance.
However, event organizers announced Sunday that Lambert would not be in attendance, writing on Facebook: “Christopher Lambert is unable to come today. He sends his regrets.”
The Independent has contacted Steel City Con for further comment.
Before the incident, the Pittsburgh-based convention had shared pictures of Lambert posing with fans at a meet-and-greet at the convention, which is held from Friday to Sunday.
Lambert is known for his iconic role as immortal Connor MacLeod in the cult classic Highlander film series, which began in 1986.
He also starred as Tarzan in 1984 blockbuster Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. He went on to appear in the 1995 Mortal Kombat video game-to-film adaptation.
After Saturday’s medical emergency, fans shared their concern for the beloved actor with messages on social media.

One person wrote on Facebook: “Prayers for Mr. Lambert. His health and care comes first no matter what. Even though I didn’t get to meet him, I saw him interacting with fans…you could see in his eyes how much fun he was having and he was loving every second of being there.”
“‘Another day, Highlander!’ Hope he recovers soon,” one added. Another eventgoer wrote: “I’m glad I met him Friday hope whatever is going on he feels better maybe he can come back. It seems like he did like Pittsburgh.”
The actor went through a similar situation in March 2025, when he underwent a serious back injury after falling down a flight of stairs at a hotel, forcing him to abruptly cancel his scheduled appearance at the SciFiWorld fan convention in Sweden.
Lambert has other fan event appearances scheduled, including next weekend at Fan Expo in Chicago and the weekend after at Mad Monster Expo in North Carolina.
His representatives did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.
