Heathrow warns ‘do not drive’ as flooding causes disruption at airport

Heathrow overtaken as world’s busiest airport
  • Heathrow Airport has urged passengers travelling to Terminals 2 and 3 not to drive due to severe flooding causing road closures in the terminal area.
  • Travellers are advised to use the Piccadilly Line, Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express, or park at Terminals 4 or 5 and transfer via free rail services.
  • The disruption comes during peak school summer holiday travel and follows recent safety-related delays on Elizabeth Line services to the airport.
  • Heathrow Airport apologised for the inconvenience and said that teams are working urgently to resolve the flooding.
  • The travel warnings coincide with Heathrow being overtaken by South Korea’s Incheon Airport as the world’s busiest hub for international passenger traffic in the first half of the year.
