Health alerts issued for large parts of UK as 30C bank holiday heatwave arrives
Yellow heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency across London, the South East, the East and the Midlands.
The alerts, which come into force from Friday, signify a likely minor impact on health and social services, with a greater risk to vulnerable people.
Temperatures are expected to soar as high as 30C in London, making it hotter than popular holiday destinations such as Mykonos and Ibiza.
The warm weather is forecast to continue into the bank holiday weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching 28C across the rest of the UK.
There is a 40 per cent chance that southern England could experience temperatures of 33C on Sunday, which would surpass the current May record of 32.8C set in 1922.
