Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state, describing security as a fundamental requirement for peace, sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Governor Kefas stated this on Tuesday in Jalingo when he received the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 10 Division of the Nigerian Army, at the T.Y. Danjuma House.
The meeting, DAILY POST observed, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the Taraba State Government and the Nigerian Army, particularly in maintaining peace and responding effectively to emerging security challenges.
The governor stressed that his administration would continue to support security agencies operating in the state, noting that a secure environment was essential for attracting investment, promoting economic activities and improving the wellbeing of residents.

As part of the state government’s support for the newly established 10 Division, Governor Kefas disclosed that the government had provided temporary accommodation for personnel of the division pending the completion of its permanent barracks on the outskirts of Jalingo.
He explained that the intervention was designed to enable the division to commence and sustain effective operations while construction work on its permanent facilities continues.
Kefas assured the Nigerian Army of the state government’s continued cooperation and support, reiterating his administration’s determination to create an enabling environment for the division to effectively discharge its responsibilities.
The governor further emphasised that security remained central to the development agenda of his administration, stressing that peace and stability were necessary for economic growth and overall development in Taraba and the wider North-East region.
“The establishment of the 10 Division, is expected to further strengthen the security architecture of Taraba State and enhance the capacity of security agencies to respond promptly to emerging threats and other security challenges”, Kefas said.
