Favour Ashe and Nicholas Fakorede have earned a place in the semi-finals of the men’s 100m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, DAILY POST reports.
Ashe won his heat with a time of 10.10s to finish ahead of Kenya’s Meshack Babu, who came second in 10.21s, and Guyana’s Akeem Stewart who finished third in 10.55s.
Nicholas Fakorede joined his compatriot in the semi-finals after finishing second in his heat with 10.21s, behind Lesotho’s Mojela Koneshe, who stormed to victory in 10.07s to set a new national record.
Singapore’s Marc Brian Louis finished third with a season’s best time of 10.38s.
Another Nigerian, Kanyinsola Ajayi progressed to the semi-finals with a bye.
The trio will compete for a place in the final on Tuesday.
Ashe will run in the semi-final heat one, Ajayi have been placed in semi-final heat two, while Fakorede will contest in semi-final heat three.
