- A group of roughly 250 family members of 9/11 victims defended Mamdani’s planned attendance, strongly condemning the Islamophobic efforts to exclude him from Ground Zero.
- Mamdani confirmed he will attend multiple memorial events to honour victims and first responders, having signed two executive orders to establish a Citywide Day of Remembrance and Service.
- The remarks come after years of legal and financial troubles for Giuliani following the 2020 election, prior to receiving a federal pardon from President Trump.
