A gangster who killed his brother-in-law has begged the Lyons mob for protection after the revenge bounty on his head doubled to 100k.

Hashim Uddin, 33, was released from prison earlier this year after he was jailed in 2021 for stabbing Omer Sadiq, 32, to death in a row at flat in Glasgow.

The Record previously revealed Uddin went into hiding after £50k was offered to target him by hoods loyal to Sadiq from the south side of the city.

But a source told the Record the money scalp Uddin has been upped after he ran into one of Sadiq’s old crew in recent weeks.

He said: “Uddin is starting to show his face in public more and bumped into one of Sadiq’s old pals at Silverburn shopping centre and had a row with him.

“Uddin was with a woman and the rival guy told him he was lucky she was there or he would have done him in.

“Now Hashim has asked the Lyons gang to help him.

“He was in jail with some guys who are affiliated to them and he was feeding them information about Sadiq’s crew and where they stash their drugs.

“Now he seems to think these guys are his best pals and is calling in the favours.

“Time will tell if they actually give him the protection he is seeking.

“But this hasn’t deterred his enemies in the slightest and they won’t stop until they have avenged Sadiq’s death.”

Omer Sadiq was associated with race-hate killer Imran ‘Baldy’ Shahid and a member of his notorious Shielders gang from the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

The underworld source previously told how he was one of the “heaviest gangsters in Glasgow” and explained some “serious hitters” were just waiting for the right time to claim revenge for his death.

Sadiq was once caught up in drug feuds in Glasgow and used guns to intimidate rival gangsters.

He was jailed for five years in 2010 after chasing down two rivals in a car on Pollokshaws Road and pointing a pistol at them before ramming their vehicle.

On the day he was killed he went to Uddin’s flat with his wife to try and settle a family dispute.

The High Court in Glasgow heard there had been claims Uddin had been having an affair behind the back of his wife, Iqraa Malik, and that he was planning to leave her.

Sadiq – married to Iqraa’s sister – told a relative he would go to Uddin’s home and “everything would be fine”.

But Sadiq brought a dog into the house with him which upset Uddin and the two men started fighting.

Sadiq was struck twice with a hunting knife and later died in hospital from his fatal injuries.

In court, Uddin was accused of murdering Sadiq but prosecutors accepted his guilty plea to the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

Uddin’s advocate Thomas Ross QC said Sadiq’s reputation intimidated him and that the dog “introduced an element of fear”.

After Sadiq’s death, the Record reported on a chilling photo that showed the victim enjoying a night out with the Uddin in the months before he was killed.

The picture showed Sadiq, Uddin and another man happily enjoying drinks together at a table.

Speaking at the time, a source said “Just shows, you can be sitting with your killer and not even know it.”
