Fresh London bus strikes are postponed – what we know
- More than 1,500 Arriva North London bus drivers have suspended planned strike action after receiving a new offer on working conditions during extreme heat.
- Unite members took strike action on Friday and Tuesday, protesting against bus cab temperatures reaching over 40C due to a lack of proper air conditioning.
- Strikes scheduled from Wednesday to Friday were put on hold to allow drivers across eight London garages to ballot on the fresh proposal.
- Unite warned that industrial action will resume on Tuesday 25 August if members vote to reject the company’s latest offer.
- Arriva and Transport for London stated they are investing in upgraded cooling systems and fleet improvements to address high temperatures in driver cabs.
