The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects over a violent clash between youths in the Bauchi metropolis that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in the Anguwan Makafi area of Bauchi.
Police said the victim, identified as Adamu Abdullahi, popularly known as Baba Budi, was allegedly stabbed in the left shoulder with a knife in front of a shop.
The stabbing reportedly triggered a violent confrontation between youths from Anguwan Makafi and Anguwan Yola.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the Divisional Police Officer of C Division quickly mobilised operatives to the area after receiving the report.
He said the police dispersed the youths and restored calm to prevent further escalation.
“The victim was immediately evacuated to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, for medical attention, but was unfortunately confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor,” Habib said.
The five suspects arrested in connection with the incident are Bashir Idris, also known as Mado; Musa Dahiru; Marwan Mustapha, alias Degree; Aliyu Dahiru, alias Jida Kanka; and Bashir Aliyu, popularly known as Bash.
Police also said another man, identified as Aliyu Ibrahim, sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to the Specialist Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
The command said photographs of the deceased were taken before his remains were released to his relatives for burial.
Police patrol teams have subsequently been deployed to the affected areas to maintain peace and prevent further violence.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incident and ordered a thorough and discreet investigation.
He also warned residents against jungle justice and reprisal attacks, urging them to remain calm and provide useful information to the police.
The police said investigations into the incident are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged in court upon their conclusion.
“Further updates will be communicated to the public in due course,” the command said.
